The Eagle - PLS/CADD Import Tool analyzes PLS/CADD XML data that’s exported from PLS/CADD and creates an Esri Geodatabase with Structure Hub, Alignment, Transmission Line, Conductor and Shield Wire features. The data in the Esri Geodatabase can be stored as 2D features, useful as a plan view in ArcGIS or as 3D features that can be used with ArcMap, ArcScene or ArcGlobe. Attributes from the PLS/CADD XML files are used to populate attributes in the Esri Geodatabase like Line Name, Conductor Type, Shield Wire Type, Structure Type, Structure Number, etc.

Kestrel is an ArcGIS toolset that exports electric distribution network models to Milsoft’s Windmil, DNV-GL’s SynerGEE and Cooper Power Systems Cyme electric network modeling tools. The Kestrel interface has an easy-to-use form that supports the ability to export a few circuits for modeling or your entire distribution system. Using ArcGIS and Kestrel eliminates the need for the engineer to keep the distribution model updated in the modeling tools by leveraging the data stored in ArcGIS.
OWL - Utility Data/Network Maintenance and Analysis Tool.
Owl is an ArcGIS toolset that </span>adds functionality to core ArcGIS Desktop. Most of the functionality needed by a utility company is included in the core Esri software, but these tools provide easy-to-use functions to fill in the gaps, such as
AMI/GIS Synchronization Support
These tools provide an easy way to coordinate the information coming from your AMI system with GIS. If you're AMI system knows meter phasing, these tools compare the phase information from your AMI system when the phasing stored with the meter in the GIS system, and points out locations where there is a difference. As well as highlighting the areas that are different, tools exist that set the phasing information in GIS to match the phasing information in AMI, eliminating tremendous amounts of manual work.
Line Mileage/Main Mileage Reporting
Utility companies frequently need to report information to taxing and governmental agencies relative to the amount of facilities (line miles, pole miles, miles of main, etc.) by various geographic areas such as tax units (a combination of county, city, school district, fire district, etc.). These tools provide a simple single button approach to analyzing and reporting this information, taking into account facilities such as wire and pipe that corss boundaries and prorate the footages accordingly, and to provide information about changes from one year to the next.
Cross-class Attribute Updating
This tool streamlines the data maintenance process by updating attributes across many feature classes simultaneously. Rather than set Feeder ID in conductor, and then transfomrers, and then devices, you can select all of those features with a geometric trace and then use this tool to update the common field(s) between all of the selected features and classes.
Export to CAD (Depricated)
Several tools exist in ArcGIS to export geodatabase information to CAD files. However, the control over how the graphic elements in the CAD file are created is not as robust as is sometimes needed. This tool allows the user to configure all of the graphic attributes for the exported CAD features... color, weight, style, level/layer name, text font, text size, etc. This tool also converts non-simple geodatabase geometry to CAD features, including annotation feature and dimension features.
The tool not only allows control over the graphic element creation, it also allows for the selection of the area to extract by drawing a graphic polygon in Data View. The tool will extract all of the visible features listed in the map document that intersect this polygon. Features that cross the polygon will be clipped to the polygon boundary.
If several CAD extracts are needed based on map grids, the tool allows for the selection of map grids and it will create the CAD files for each map grid selected.
Feeder ID Management
The Feeder Management tool in Owl consists of an easy to use one-button click to set feeder ID values in one or all circuits. The Feeder ID attribute is updated in all of the connected network devices for that feeder
Network Features QA
The Net Junction QA tool scans your geometric network looking for point features that have invalid connections. Example of imvalid connections are transformers with no connection to primary conductor, gas valves connected to three mains at the same time, a fuse connected to three spans at the same time, etc. These features can be filtered by the current view or the entire database. Once found, the features are selected so subsequent queries on those features can be found.
Find Source Loops
The Find Source Loops tool sets trace flags on all or a subset of the network sources and analyzes network connectivity, looking for sources in an electric network that are tied together. Examples of sources incorrectly tied together would be because of a missing open point, a switch that is set to closed but should be open, etc. The tool reports those sources that are tied together and once found, the user can set flags on those particular sources and use the other Trace Tools (Find Path, Find Connected) to aid in determining where the data problem is.
CAD Template Importing
Utility companies generally have detail drawings for manholes, cabinets and other facilities that are maintained in CAD. Sometimes, it's helpful to have these detail drawings as part of the ArcGIS map set used by the construction crews. This tool scans CAD files your browse to and allows you to extract all or part of the CAD drawing and insert it into either the Data View or the Layout View. The tool can also be used to create Graphic Favorites used by ArcFM®
Gas Outage Analysis
The Gas Outage Analysis tool allows the user to indicate where a dig in on a gas main occured and it will automatically determine the valves to close to isolate that part of the system. The analysis takes into account sections of main that aren't backfed and eliminates erroneous valve operation results.
Index Map Generation
Here's a link to a .PDF that shows how the tool created a street index at the bottom of the page layout. The bottom of the page layout is empty to start with, and by processing the map grids and street segments from the geodatabase, the index is generated. The tools allows configuration for the text font and size to use, which drives how many columns are used for the index. Click here for a Sample Street Index
Electric Network Phase Swapping
The Phase Swap tool can be used during data collection for the GIS or during normal operations. When the tool is invoked and a single phase span is clicked, the user is presented with a form that shows the current phasing of that single phase tap and an option to set it to a diffrent phase. When the 'Update' button is clicked, all of the network facilities downstream of the selected span are updated to the new phase automatically.

Meter Reading Route Management
These tools review your customer meters locatoins and creates meter reading routes that optomize the meter reader time and minimizes the number of routes.
Geometric Network Analysis
Several tools are available that can trace various types of utility networks. In the electric model, the trace tools can perform upstream traces, downstream traces, trace up to a protective device. The gas/water traces can trace all connected features to closed valves or pressure-reducing stations, valve isolation traces and cathodic protection traces. Each of the traces can either display the trace results or provide information from the features traced, either in a detail or summary mode, or both
Transformer Load Analysis
The Transformer Load Analysis tool allows the user to select a transformer and extract customer load information for the past 36 months, rate code, etc to create a graph of analytical transformer loading..
/transformerload.png"
Swich Cabinet Configuration
This tool allows the user to create all of the features that make up the internal configuration of a Switch Cabinet. Based on the information provided from the forms shown below, fuses, switches, buswork and elbows are created with the specified connection scheme and rotation.
EZ-Export
Creating databases for use with ArcReader is pretty easy with the out-of-the-box tools from ESRI, but if you want a geodatabase that has selected feature classes and selected fields from those feature classes, it can take a lot of setup time to create the geodatabase you want. This become trickier if you want to have data from various data sources.
The EX-Export tool helps simpligy this process. The EZ-Export tool creates a geodatabase based on the layers present in your map document. If you have just a few visible layers in your map, this tool will create a file or personal geodatabase with data for just those layers. Also, if you use the Layer Properties tab to make some of the fields invisible, the tool will not export those fields, allowing you to have a geodatabase that has just the data your users need.
As an added benefit, this tool will combine all of the data sources in your map document into one geodatabase, even if the data sources are different... even if they are CAD files.
